Having no experience of hunting, and hearing that some stay out all day, I wondered... What do you do about needing the bathroom/having food and water?? Just curious :D

Haha, this was always my biggest fear, getting caught short in the saddle. One small cup of tea first thing, toilet as much as possible in the lorry before you go. Copious amounts of port keep up the bravery whilst not passing through to the bladder. Works perfectly! I have a 17.2hh boy who I would never get back on without a leg-up if I had to get off to pee!xxxxx

This bag http://www.johnshooter.com/brown-leather-saddle-bag-p-261.html?wizid=1ign60u1k9dccr9086itbnehe6 is excellent for opening easily on the move, and I can fit a small bottle of water, a couple of chocolate bars, and a penknife in it.

Train your horse to stand by a gate or fence or something - I need to go for a wee all the time! I also make use of foot followers to hold the horse and leg me back up. (I foot follow sometimes, and am always happy to reciprocate!)

Some chaps manage to pee from the saddle - but you DON'T want to be the one who cleans their tack afterwards!

we used to spend quite a bit of time with someone who did the huntsmans horses for him. She always said it was fine until he made some comment about using the horn as a funnel!:eek:

I think he was joking.... or I Hope he was...

I wait til I get home for all three :p

On Saturday my friend jumped off to disappear behind a tree (we were in the forestry), along comes the whipper-in and two quad bikes tearing up through the trees. I turn to my other friend and say 'where exactly did H go to?!', a couple of minutes later she comes back through the trees, still bright red and tells us they caught her just pulling her jods back up!

Also my male friend is forever getting off for a pee. Whenever I turn around he's given his horse to someone and is off peeing. One day he noticed that someone's horse was also peeing a lot and declared that it clearly had a 'bigger problem with its prostate' than he did!

I go without real food or drink all day (usually have an energy bar in my pocket but forget to eat it). Swig of port and I'm good to run on adrenaline for the next 6 hours.

I eat & drink in the early morning & then go without for the rest of the day.

I was hunting with a male friend once, we got separated for a while, when I saw him again, his horse had a wet shoulder, I asked why & he told me he'd peed down it!

I got off once & held my horse while I tried to have a pee, not easy to do with an exited horse who insisted on jumping up & down!
