A bit late sorry, I had forgotten all about it until I was just winding UnaB up! :rolleyes:
Flora was nearly stolen from the garden last week. I was creosoting the stable block (lack of internet gets you doing these odd things! :p) the dogs were out sunbathing in the garden. I was at the time completely obscurred by a rather large conifor and could not be seen merrily painting away (and swearing as I got jabbed by tree branches) I heard a vehicle coming up our lane (thats not unusual!) but it slowed as it got level with our garden, they had the windows open and I heard one man say to the other ''there are loads of dogs here, some rare ones too'' and then ''the ginger one, jump out and grab that''....at this point as I was putting my brush down and just about to reveal myself and give them what for when Tilly heard them and came running around from the back garden barking and snarling, she stood up at the fence as she does, going mental and then I heard ''errrr, maybe not then'' and they drove off. I ran out to try and catch the number plate but I didnt catch it. It was a white van/small lorry? with like a half shutter door on the back (the top half was missing). They sounded like more than just opportunists so please all be extra extra vigilant.
 
Yes I did ring the police. They said they would send someone round to speak to me but I havnt seen anyone yet!
She wont go over the fence CC but they are lucky she woke up BEFORE they got out and came in the garden!
 
Shame they didn't come in the garden, although in this crazy world Tilly would probably been in trouble for biting them. What a scare for you though, shame the police can't be bothered to follow up your call.
 
This is worrying.

A fortnight ago a local dog owner had two boxers 'stolen' from his garden - one bitch and one dog. One was found later wandering in the village - I believe it was the dog- but I havent heard if the other was recovered.

From what I have heard the garden fencing was either cut or damaged. The property is rural and is very well fenced so someone made quite an effort.

Phew, hooray for Tilly!

All of our worst nightmares I would imagine so thanks for the warning!
Different area i know but will make me keep an eye on mine a bit more.

Don't get me wrong, we should all be vigilent all of the time, dog theft is not a new thing and I have had one stolen myself in the past. It's the worst thing ever to loose a dog in such a way.
My garden is in a pretty prominent location although it is extremely rural, my dogs are seen by many every day and I have a low fence. It would take only a minute to have a dog away out of my garden and I never let them out without Tilly outside too, loose (I am confident they have not a cat in hells chance of even reaching over and grabbing a terrier with her around).
 
This is worrying It's really sad that we should have to think about leaving your dog out in you OWN garden incase anything happensto them :( well done to your doggy though! :-)
 
a terrier from wedmore i think it is has been stolen/lost i suspect stolen though and hasnt been found yet i dont think. their is a poster at badgworth.
