4 transit style vans are in effect 'doing the rounds' of livery yards in the SELBY area at the mo, through the day, which is quite a scary thought.

As our yard isn't too far from Selby, we are a bit concerned!

The vans were in Beverley 3 weeks ago, my friend's yard was targeted in one of these daylight raids- they came a week beforehand, posing as prospective livery clients, seemingly to check the place out.

If not already done, take photo's of all your stuff and make a log. Should you be targeted you will have details ready for the police - usually useless. More importantly make posters with pics and put up everywhere. Makes it harder for the theives to sell on and someone may recognise items.
Take it to local dealers/dodgy dealers/travellers sites if you know any of them personally. It does work, we got all our stuff back - no help from the police. Do you have any pics you couls email me? The stuff is likely to be sold on out of your area & i know many dodgy dealers. I get offered many things. If i know what is what i can help.

TBH I don't keep any tack etc on the yard....my kitchen is my tack room at the minute! We were broken into last year and the tack room wiped out so I bring it home now. I don't know of any one who does the embossing in this area though. What I may o at some point is get all our members together and if they want theirs done I could bring it over to you?

I used to have my pony's tack stamped, but I don't have either of my current horses tack stamped.
I'd like it to be stamped tho.

Our tack is in a locked, alarmed tackroom but I keep alot of the spare stuff in my storeroom- although this is locked it's not very secure!

We're near Ulleskelf.

ooow heck, I'm that area too, I will let everyone know down at the livery where I keep my horse, we got done about 3 years back, broke in both tack rooms, took my brand new Brown Anthill 17 ''saddle and my new 17'' TG Griffin COB GP, was so upset and so angry because it took me so long to find a saddle to fit my cob, plus I didn't have them insured. They also took other peoples bridles from the other tack room. I had to ride bareback for 3 months until I could afford another saddle for one of my horses. They just have no guilt and no idea how much problems and upset they cause, how they can just help themselves to other peoples property....arrrhhhh

makes me so mad! I also didn't know that the yard had been done over before, if I'd known I'd of never of kept it there in the first place. I couldn't believe it when R&R was done over...twice or was it three times in a short time span? gosh!

One thing I did learn....get my tack insured and not keep it down at the yard if I can help it.
