a wieght rule that includes bone

I dont think a lot of it personally!! For a start it says women are around 5ft 7 which I think is an over estimate. It also doesnt take into account the horses general confirmation or level of fitness, age, rider ability and balance etc

Oh, I'm sorry that is not the most helpful website. I should give that a miss. Westen saddles are measured differantly and Thoroughbreds have light jockeys to go faster not because they can't take the weight. Bit of a collection of random facts added up incorrectly I think.

I actually like that method of working out weight carrying, as a guideline, as it takes the total weight, horse, rider and tack, and compares it to the bone size.

I don't believe any one mathematical calculation is the answer, but this is as valid as the 20% rule. It could be argued that it is more valid than the 20% rule, as that can be abused by people who can't gauge that a fat horse is already carrying part of the 20%.

As ever, each horse and rider pairing should be studied individually, because each one is different.
