I've taken in a new little pony which arrived four weeks ago. As with all my new ones he was put on a 5 day panacure which did clear out some worms.

Since I've had him his poops have been loose, but yesterday they've gone almost cow pat type.

He has just been wormed (Sunday) on double dose Strongid P for Tapeworm, but I'm worried as I've snce found it's highly unlikely he's been wormed!

Now I'm convinced that he still has woms so my question is can I put something like Equest down him? It's not from the same family as Strongid P, but is it likely to do the poor little guy any harm?

I'm also going to send in a Westgate sample, but need to wait as worming has only just taken place.

I would feed something like baileys digest plus or pink powder for several weeks. Worming can upset the bacteria in the gut and give the horse very loose poo. IMO panacur has too much widespread resistance to be totally effective. I would wait another few weeks on the pro/pre biotics then worm with equest but keep going on the biotics for a few weeks after.

Give a company called Hyperdrug a call, they are good at advising what wormer to give and how long to leave between worming.

get some pick powder down him give the strong p time to wear off about six weeks get a poo sample done then get an equest down him to cover everything else coz he has been done for tape worms now!
