Ok so my tb has been in work a month now, he has just been in walk. he is fine in walk on the lunge and in straight lines but he trips alot on his right fore. I gave him a little trot through a field and he was dropping his head so i could feel he was unlevel and then gave him a little trot on the road and he was the same.
He was diagnosed with navicular last august and has been out of work for a year while he went through a bare foot transition and everything settled (bone spavins in hocks also)
He is fine in walk but trips alot like i say.
He is on a light dose of danilon on the advice of the vet (also has KS) this was to keep him comfortable while his muscle built up.
Im feeling abit pooh about it tbh, im now in doubt as to whether he will ever come sound :-(
Im going to ring my vet after i have spoken it through with my farrier, im doing it this way around because his feet are a work in progress so the farrier may highlight something i havnt noticed, and i dont want the vet to start talking about tildren etc as tbh, that is not an option.
i dont know what im looking for you all to say but i also dont know where to go with this. Im going to keep walking him as he may come out the other side of it.. The vet assessed him in july and he was sound. now he isnt...

It's difficult with horses. You become so emotionally attached... I have a horse "on rehab", too, at the moment. It's a constant roller coaster ride...

So sorry to hear your horse is not coming right - have you had a chiro to him as sometimes navicular symptoms are the same as when the withers are out of alignment.

Many horses will show navicular changes with X rays but these changes don't necessarily mean navicular.

The chiro was out to him just before he went on his holiday and she came out to my mare the other day and i asked her when would be best to do him. she didnt really say when other than if he felt stiff and tight but hes been stretching down very well. hes had abit of a bad frog on that foot, well its been bad for a while but has just started drying out, maybe... hopefully.. its just his frog that its soft. but that wouldnt acount for the tripping.

TBH i have not heard of many horses stay sound for very long, all you can do is your best, My horse has arthritis of the Coffin joint, in soft ground we used to be able to hack, then i had to give him bute the night b4 if i was going to hack, now he is on a bute a day to keep him sound, again fine in walk, not trot and can zoom round the field when he wants but, you cant take the problem away, its tough, i could cry some days when i look at him, but as my dad keeps telling me you cant take the problem away. He was diagnosed 4 or 5 years ago, n gets a little worse each year,. i guess ill only be a ble to keep him another year or so, id gladly spend all i have to mend him but i cant no one can x sorry i guess that is not what you want to hear.
