Just reading the multiple dog thread and I thought I would post an update on my decision to have a JRT pup. He is fabulous and we love him to bits
. Already have 2 ESS aged 4 and 3 and never owned a terrier, have also never known a nice JRT, a lot of my family are farmers and all the jacks I have known over the years have been nasty snappy little oiks!! I wanted Archie because I know his mum and she is without doubt, one of the nicest dogs I have ever met, obedient, well mannered and with a fantastic temperament and disposition. When she was in pup I stipulated that I would love a pup but it had to be a rough coated dog. Only 2 pups survived, a smooth girl and Arch. He arrived home on bonfire night last year and instantly filled the gap left by the IWS who we had just had pts, he had huge paws to follow but he has done so, and more. He has his mothers temperament, is a real softy who has fitted in with the springers, he is happy to let Coco be top dog and doesn't challenge her authority, or ours, he comes out in the lorry with me, OH and horse and trots along next to us all through the forest, will sit in the back of the truck whilst we are getting horse tacked/untacked and wait patiently. He has oodles of character, lots of charm and is loved by everyone who meets him when out and about. I agonised long and hard over whether to have him, I was taking a chance on him inheriting his mums good points and thankfully he has done so. Neither OH or I would be without him now, he honestly hasn't put a paw wrong. Sorry for the gushy post but I am just so smitten with this little dog, he is, as I expected, completely different to the ESS but that is what we wanted and we love him!
