AAAAAAAARGH rant alert

I actually don't get the whole thing. Why doesn't his horse just go in another field which does have fencing......

there isnt anywhere else for flint to go, there isnt a spare field, and he cant be turned out with others, because of the way flint is it always seems the easiest option to take him out of the equation that try and juggle a couple fo horses around

they are some who go out with others and sum that have to stay on their ow. flints one who has to go down the bottom of the fields and not up the top. being a rig, the mares are kept up the top which YO doesnt want to place him near should anything happen

Aw I see. Well that makes sense. I guess it really depends on what you agreed with the YO when you first went there as to who is responsible for buying an energiser......or at the least who is responsible for the fencing in ANY field.

its down to him! his words! if you wanted to section ur field of into half or quaters then it was ur responsibilty. cus of the way flint is (not his fault!) he always seems to get the rough deal of things. and keeping him in with no water or feed was just pushing my temper to say the least

Not too sure what to advise here then. You could say to him that as there is not a field for your horse to go in.....and you ARE paying for a field, that it should surely be his responsibility to install proper fencing. Sounds like you have already done that though....to no avail.

I suppose you could argue that because he's a rig and therefore 'different' he needs special treatment ie his own field away from the mares, and therefore that is not necessarily included in a standard livery agreement. If it were my horse I'd just get myself an energiser and be done with it. Not on though to leave him in with no food/water. I'd be a bit peeved about that although I suppose it depends on how long for.
