I have the same problem with these pests! Have told big boy to start thundering around with his hooves more to create some vibration but he's taken no notice.....any ideas out there folks.
They are little sods aren't they?! My OH has spent the last 3 years studying their habits and can now usually catch them within a week using traps. The cats have also been known to catch them, although they won't eat them, I understand they don't taste awfully good!
What you really need, and what my OH has been badgering me to be allowed to get is one of these : http://www.rodenator.eu/
Apparently you are supposed to ensure there are no animals in the burrow before setting it off, but how exactly you tell this I am unsure.
Good luck, we do find that once one has been trapped another one tends to move in and use the burrows again so it is a bit of a neverending quest.
Get a rake and flatten all the mole hills.
Next day put traps in the ones that have come up overnight. Put a stick next to it with some tape on the end or you will lose your trap.
check trap daily.
I haven't seen the you tube video, I expect it's fine, if it doesn't say try to use rubber gloves when setting the traps. i've heard that the moles are sensitive to smell, and i have better success when wearing them.
