After six months of using them perfectly happily, Muffin's boots have rubbed him at the crease above the heels.

Can anybody be recommend boots that are least likely to rub a TB?

I've looked at gaiters but his treks are a snug fit and I don't think I could get them on.

Thanks in advance :)

Arts has very tb typical hoof conformation and paper thin skin and her scoots work well for her. Used for all hacking (as there are very stoney tracks on most of my hacks) and haven't had a rub yet. Haven't really used them in boggy mud so can't comment on that

I’ve used renegades on BBP for 10 years and never had a rub (admittedly he doesn’t wear them super often but has worn them on some long rides).

Just to be aware, scoots rubbed my mares heels quite badly. But she was a super sensitive ginger

I've had scoots rub and they rub very seriously. I think it is due to the shape of the back of the foot and especially the size and placement of the heels. I had one hind rub in scoots. The horse was not super sensitive or thin skinned but the "rub" was very deep and bleeding. The back of scoots is harsh and inflexible. Most feet I suspect are fine and have no problems, and some, like mine and the above ones get rubbed badly. Scoots are great, easy to get on and off, good grip, good breakover and easy to wash but I always look warily at the back of the foot to make sure there is no damage after a bad experience.

I have used the easycare range with gaiters for many miles with no rubbing. The gaiter is flexible and curves around the heel whereas the back of the scoots is very harsh. I have also never had renegades rub but again the back is more flexible and adjusts and moves back to cup the heel bulbs.

I solved this by using joules fleece socks on the horse .
I will have cold feet this winter .
In past I have used thick pop socks .

I have heard of this before, and I have a spare pair of slipper socks that are pretty big, so I might try them.

Thinking of going Renegade long term, or possibly Fury Sling, anyone?

Ha, Ginger Jay rubbed with Cavallos and a bit with Easyboot Gloves too. I tried Matalan socks but they didn't help. Maybe I should have upped my game! :p

I used to use Epics without gaiters.
The wires need to be tight - you need to stand on the clip to close it and undo it with the help of a hoofpick!
They don’t come up high enough to rub the skin and properly secured they didn't budge on fast hacks on my tb x wb

I've been using Cavalos on his fronts for 10 years with no issue until this summer, where I've done a lot of TREC at L2 (so up to 25km). The last but one we did we went for a long stretch on a beach, and I think the soft sand got in and then rubbed badly. Luckily we were able to barefoot for the next one, so we got away with it. Meanwhile I had wasted a perfectly good pair of socks cutting the toe out to use as a gaiter :-), which I then didn't bother with.
I use renegade vipers on his backs, which can't rub, sadly they won't fit his fronts.
