Sorry, self indulgant post!
I don't know if you remember last year I posted about my new horse I got who I was asking for advice with making him careful over poles as he'd just knock through them with me?
Well bless his cottons he has actually improved sooo much since then. I've had to give him a little break from really working on his jumping in the new year, lost shoes, kicks, **** weather, etc etc...but have been jumping him again now and been having lessons once a week with him and he has changed so so much!
Gridwork before would pretty much be a demolition derby of falling over ground poles, ploughing through the fence, tripping on landing place pole...etc.
Been doing gridwork on him this week and yes, we've had a few down, BUT he'd then make sure he jumped clear next attempt round and been actually cantering over the place pole, jumping cleanly and then cantering over the placing poles and rest of the grid cleanly also. I'm just learning the less I physically do as a rider on him and leave him well alone, he's learning to sort himself out more cleanly.
He's even been teaching younger riders and taking care of them jumping too bless his heart.
And today, he just gave me the best ride. Ended up doing 1m20!
Very nearly got jumped out the tack first time over it as didn't go with him enough as I couldn't see the stride to that one and got rocket launched earlier than I was expecting...which resulted in him chipping the pole down, but that was my fault entirely. We cleared it the next time round as made sure I didn't catch him over it.
Hoping to get out to a few paces in April with him, fun rides and HT's possibly, which will be fun
Done a few of the xc fences around near me, log piles, post and rails etc which he loves loves loves! And we jumped the gate which was my february aim with him haha.
I'll try and get some vids....atm they're only on my facebook so shall get them onto photobucket.
Some piccies to make do for the minute:

And to show all this jumping malarchy is hard work...
