Today was supposed to be last show in season for Riding Club, so daughter came back from uni in Liverpool and collected Murphy from working livery yesterday am. In the afternoon received e mail from show saying may be cancelled due to weather, so check emails/website this am. Decision to be made by 8 am. 7.20 am today, email received show is ON as forecast is okay. Get organised, start plaiting pony (friends daughter does lead rein on her. )
Nearly ready at 8.40, to leave at 9.00 am. Decide to check website to see if horseboxes are being parked on yard as ground will be wet. Yet another message has been added at 8.30 am saying that as it has been raining for an hour they have now cancelled the show again.

May be on next Sunday . I know no-one can help the great british weather but surely when a decision is made they should stick to it. I bet a lot of people will turn up today. We now have to decide whether its worth horse and rider coming back again next weekend or to just forget about it

That's a pain in the bum. Just as well you kept looking at the website, I bet loads of people wouldn't, especially if they have further to travel. Agree they should make a decision and stick to it.

Yeh, pure chance I looked at the website. Imagine they will have quite a few unhappy people who turn up. When they say a decision will be made by 8 am people don't expect it tobe changed at 8.30! Murphy goes better in rain (and mud) he huned in Ireland as a youngster so copes really well with wet ground. Just realised that next Sunday clashes with HOYS as well, which I am taking my niece to, so daughter will have to speak nicely to her Dad to take her if it is on.

What a pain, I'll bet they'll be popular with people.
I'm meant to be going hunter trialing today and they said when I rang for my times on Friday that they might call it off if it was raining all day. There is nothing on their website and no-one is answering the phone so I'm none the wiser. Its an hour's journey so I don't want to go unless I know its on.

We were also going to a hunter trial today - walked the course yesterday- it was awful - poached, slippery and muddy. Since then it has rained heavily non-stop, but, to our surprise it is still running!!! So we can't get our money back, even though we both considered it wasn't worth the risk because the ground was bad even before the rain. To add insult to injury, we got a lecture about how real hunting people don't worry about mud!! I've hunted before but have also seen loads of hunting injuries - vets are expensive. Sorry - just a hijack and a rant!!!!
