There has been some on now but....

what sort of picture are you getting. I am getting quite a pixellated picture and it seems that other forums in Australia and US are saying a similar thing. Is this also happening in the UK? Or do you have the secret to video streaming ???

I'm watching eventing dressage, but sound out of synch!

yeah, the footage seems to be 2 or 3 horses behind or in front of the audio, very irratating, but at least i've got a picture tonight.

i wish. the problem is that the more people that are watching, the worse the quality is, as there isn't enough bandwidth.

Yes - I suspect that is the problem, but I keep hoping for a magical quick fix!

Sounds like you guys are at least getting watchable video. I am also getting no sound at all. Is there a commentary or is it just snorting and crowd sounds?

There's no commentary, just crowd sounds, background music and the announcer.
I suspect that the reason that we get (occasionally) better quality is the time difference eg when i get on its either really early or really late in the northern hemisphere, so fewer people watching.

It's Vaulting coverage at present, and I don't think you can expect any Eventing dressage tomorrow as it will be the Dressage GP Individual in the main stadium.

it was quite strange this morning, someone obviously pushed the wrong button cos suddenly all you could see were technicians standing around fiddling with the camera equipment

i think the organizers seriously underestimated how many people would use the streaming

I think their technical staff are not as good as they could be. As I've mentioned in other threads, the sound didn't start till 14.38 BST (15.38 their time) for the Opening Ceremony, about 15 mins after I e-mailed them to complain. On Tuesday when I complained that the sound was working but the video kept freezing, I received the following reply:
we are sorry about the problem you have with watching the streaming
video of the WEG2006. We are aware of this problem and try to find a
solution. But at the moment we cannot estimate when or if we can provide
a solution for everyone. Because there are a lot of people who watch and
want to watch the streaming video there could be bottle necks from time
to time. In addition to this we do not have an influence on the internet
as a whole.

Kind regards
Mark Dauven

Vaulting holds little appeal for me but I had another quick look a little while ago and was getting vaulting commentary but the promo video with highlights of previous WEGs!

Forgot to say that I acknowledged the response telling them I had assumed that many enthusiasts would be watching the Eurosport coverage (I don't have access) or national TV coverage thereby reducing the number of video stream viewers. It's the first time I've not been at WEG and relying on technology to see as much as possible!

Oh God ... I'd forgotton about the so-called "REAL" dressage... my friend rides before it starts, so heres hoping!
Surely the cross country will be treated with more importance!!
They obviously have cameras in each venue .. why not offer separate streams? I would happily pay for it if the service was good (I hope Burghley are paying attention - since we have to pay for it there!)
SJFan, I followed your example and emailed - as I figure at least they may appreciate how many people want to watch.
Thanks for your help everyone ... at least I can now stop wasting time trying to fix it ... and just realise everyone in the world is complaining!

I'll be interested to hear how good/poor the cross-country stream (assuming there is one!) is. Fortunately those of us in the UK with digital TV are supposed to have full coverage on BBCi so that should reduce the demand on the video stream.
