I know this has been done 10 trillion times, but I am useless with computers and the internet and can't find what I want in the search!

Entrance to my field shelter is getting a bit slippy. we have sandy soil and it drains well, but more of this rain and it'll end up a quagmire.

Don't want to use grass mats as they'll just sink in the mud eventually. Is there something I can put on it to get rid ofthe mud? I am thinking hardcore or soemthing, but not sure???

Want it to be as cheap as possible - on a tight budget at the moment!

In the same position, only our soil DOESN"T drain well! I once saw someone who had had some pine trees trimmed or felled or something, and she had put down the brashy bits in quantity outside her shelter. the horses walked across a springy bed of very thin branches - a bit like if you lopped off the branches of a Christmas tree - and it seemed to work really well. When I commented, she pointed out that that was how the Romans used to build their roads over bogs in Britain, in their case with logs.

The other thing, which I yearn for but feel might be expensive, is that sort of mesh they put under grass car parks. An advert for one brand says it will support an army tank!

Hope you find something, and if you do, let me know! Otherwise, it's another winter of welly-sucking, shoe-pulling-off mud.......

I can't put up with it - I have a mud fever prone horse who is insistant on standing there. Need to cover it up pronto.

Will look on ebay for those mat things - hopefully less likely to sink in the mud?
