I found a dog abandoned in the local woods yesterday. Well, I think he probably was abandoned as it's a common dumping ground. He's a collie x, possibly with a GSD. He's very thin and his feet and nails are very worn and he looks like he may have been living rough for a while. He's very friendly with people and dogs but obviously not used to horses, cats or chickens!! Looking at his teeth I'd guess he's about 9-18 months old, quite hard to tell as he's so thin and rangy. Definitely used to living indoors as he made himself straight at home on the sofa in the living room!! He has a collar on but no Id tag. I've rang the local vets but no ones reported a missing dog, also got through to some of the charities. The ones I've rang have no room for him and if I ring the warden he'll go straight to the pound, where he will probably get put down after his times up. Dog warden can't be contacted til tomorrow anyway. Going to try some more charities later but I'll probably end up keeping him until I find a home for him, I can't keep him long term as I already have 5 dogs. I've had a look at some of the lost and found websites and posted a found ad.

So anything else I can do? Or if anyone knows of some one looking for a dog in Ireland let me know?!

I get so angry when people just dump their dogs. Strange that he has a collar on though, you'd think they would have taken it off. Can you nip him to your vet to see if he's chipped? He may have got lost.
If not I hope you can find him a forever home.

Good idea, I'll take him to the vets to check, I need to get him a worm does too. Tbh, I'd say he has been dumped, he's the right age, just lost the cute puppy look and he's obviously never been trained, jumps up at you and barks alot and he's pretty big and excitable so I guess he became too much hard work. Just got onto another charity, they have a 4 month waiting list and 110 dogs in already!! It's hard to believe.

:(

OH's brother just lost his dog but I think I'm at the opposite end of the country, he sounds perfect. Oh well!

Hope he gets sorted, well done for taking him in x
