What are these like? Are they similar to the Pessoa training system? If so are they better / worse.
I want to get a Pessoa training system for lunging my dressage horses in on their days off and was just wondering if the Abbot Davies system would be a cheaper option.
Does anyone now any other cheaper versions of the Pessoa system?

Abbot Davies system is quite different to a pessoa and equally expensive! It had three different settings, one a bit like a chambon (poll pressure) for lunging, one like that for riding (i think) and a third, controversial and severe method where the horses head is basically tied to its tail, not really the same effect as a pessoa, though meant to encourage HQ engagement this can also create a lot of back tension so i would advise using a pessoa instead. I think Derby House now do their own pessoa copy which still costs nearly as much as the original but you get a fee roller thrown in too! Alternatively if you're really clever i know someone who made their own out of some yatching rope and pulleys that you can get from sailing shops.
