well abby just about gave me a heart attack!!! got to the yard for vet coming poppy was shouting hello like usual but nothing from abby. ran into her stable to find her on the floor lying down, unusual for abby (in the stable anyway) wouldnt get up, eyes looked totally glazed over, heavy breathing, wouldnt eat .......... i genuinly thought she was dying!!! i sat down beside her crying my eyes out she stretched out and put her head on me and i thought i was gonna have to say my goodbyes

vet arrives i get out of the stable cause i don't wanna see her trying to get up, but she did. she fairly clattered about tho. he quickly took poultice off and her shoe and started to dig into her hoof again and the absese had tracked along the front of her toe and made a massive pocket of black stinky puss which literally BURST (noise included) in front of us. she was clearly hugely releved tht it had burst cause u could see the tension tht was all over her eyes just fade. she's still hobbling very badly but at least its draining well, vet says she'll feel miles better by tomoro, she's on bute anyway so just upped that for the night to help her out a wee bit........ so fingers crossed

poor you, its horrible. must be a big relief to her that all that yuk has drained out. Its amazing how quick they recover though

yeh it was hummin!!! disgusting

u kno in a way it was very humbling to have a horse be so accepting of me, like the way she just looked at me when i was out of the box crying and she just turned and looked at me as if to say "help me mum" then when i went over she just settled as soon as i put my hands on her. and the fact she just wanted to lie on me...............i'm gonna cry again

I'm confused, which horse has the abcess, Abby or Poppy? Abby was the one lying down? The vet looked at who's foot, I thought it was Poppy with the abcess, or are they the same horse with two different names!!

Edited to say, soz, just realized that Poppy is your little one, god knows why I thought it was Poppy with a bad foot
