Just to clarify for any peeps that read the recent BBC news online item about the new bridge over the river Dee at Braemar.

The article described the bridge as for 'walkers and cyclists'.

However I have been in touch with the community trust involved with the plans and they have confirmed that horseriders have been taken into account and the new bridge will definitely be accessible for horses .

Yay! Good for them!

Since the planning app hasnt yet gone in, we cant tell how white knuckle it might be in practice :))) , but it is good news that despite being fewer in number than the walkers we havent been forgotten.

The Scottish Access Code quite clearly includes riders thank goodness..... Is this the "Deeside Way"?

No Deeside way is from Aboyne to Ballater (it was the old railway). There is a gap between Kincardine o Neil and Aboyne tho.

This is a useful link for the deeside way

There is a new link from Aboyne to Tarland but there are some lethal to horses drain channel covers which need to be removed, it was planned to be done before Xmas but I don't think it has been yet, will update once it has been confirmed as done.

Braemar Area rides are mainly quite remote, so quite a few peeps make use of the available facilities to hire at Mar Lodge which include stables corralling and s/c accom. I haven't been up that area myself yet as only just got transport sorted out for pony. But hoping to this year!
