A pointless post to share our days work.:D

I took Lucy out to a competition today for the first time in about 9 months. She went to another show a few weeks ago for acclimatisation but not to compete. We had decided to enter a dressage test and two jumping classes.

1st negative - the man I hired to transport us ditched us in favour of taking two shuttle runs to another local show in order to make more money.

1st positive - my good neighbours decided to go and offered me a lift.

2nd negative - Lucy tries everything she can think of to get out of going to said show. Cue spasmodic colic on Friday and coming in from the field on Saturday (grazing muzzle on!) with 4 large kick marks.

2nd positive - she loaded brilliantly.

3rd positive - she was very lively when we got there but was working in well so I decided to take up the offer of competing in an extra dressage test when someone dropped out.

3rd negative - I was told I only had 5 minutes to get into the ring. This turned out to be an oversight on the organisers behalf as I found out after getting hot, sweaty and stressed I did in fact have an hour and 5 minutes to get to the ring.

4th negative - her best friend and field buddy arrived. Cue napping, rearing and being a little s~~~ at the same time my parents arrived.

4th positive - after refusing to go into the arena she got a big smack on the bum, did an enormous buck, gave up and went in producing a decent test and very positive feedback from the judge.

5th negative - we left the arena and she had another napping rearing episode to try and get back to her friend.

5th positive - we came 2nd!

6th negative - on entering the arena for our second test (slightly more successfully I may add), we proceeded down the centre line, past the markers and nearly took out the judges car as the gate hadn't been shut and Lucy was making a bid for freedom.

6th positive - we rode through 'said' incident and proceeded to complete a really good test.

7th negative - the judge disagreed. I think she had changed her mind about my horse and had taken umbridge at our entrance!

7th positive - Lucy calmed down, loaded and travelled home like a star.

All in all a pretty even days work. Horse and rider proud and we still managed to scrape 5th in the second class. Oh, and by the time we had finished our dressage larks the showjumping was finished! Still, we did plenty of jumping around during the day to make up for it!
