When someone says their mare is abit mareish. how mareish is that?
I have had an email response and everything else is fantastic about the horse but at the end it just says
"She needs someone who will be patient but firm and build a good relationship with her - a bit mareish really"

Answers on a postcard or a cheaper option is to post here, please

probably lays its ears flat back at you in the stable, then does everything in its power to kill you- bite, kick or even both if you are lucky! Most sellers have an uncanny habit of underestimating the bad points. Some people substitute marish for dangerous!
If i said something was a bit marish- it would be when in season likes to squirt etc at other horses and was maybe a bit grouchy.

NO chance- but I wouldnt mind giving the mare thing a go- after all the last horse was a male and a complete self centred git! The mares I have had dealing with bar one have all been well behaved and nice people, exept this tank who once tried to kick me out the field!

Is it Sapp mareish or just pulling faces mareish - major difference!!

I dont yet...if its sapph mareish i dont think it would bother me, or big black thing on old yard pulling faces mareish! I will investigate futher- if she's a complete bitch then not a chance!

I would def go with a mare. IMO geldings are the ones that pull the faces and don't like cuddles. Mares love affection and you can really build up a relationship with one. To me 'a bit mareish' would mean maybe a bit hormonal or grumpy when in season but this is liveable with.

That describes our Shire X Dutch mare to perfection!
In my book (and with this mare) it means you need to be tactful. Try to make her do something and she refuses, ask her and she will. She can be a stroppy old bag but if your firm with her she will be ok, if you let her walk all over you she WILL. This is what her current rider doesnt get, she lets her graze/eat the trees when shes leading her and wonders why the mare then drags her all over the place. She lets her put her feet down before shes finnished picking them out then wonders why the horse is getting bad habbits, the horse nips her but no one else, we all expect good manners and get it. If she does those things with us she gets a firm "NO", her rider just lets her ger on with it. Its so annoying!
