I know there been loads of discussion on this in the past but did we ever resolve the issue of whether or not these products contain ….
1. Nothing nefarious
2. Enough omeprazole to be therapeutic
3. In a form that will make it through to the stomach to work

Thoughts?

The first point is that it's illegal to import, even though plenty of people do it.

The US FDA, in trying to stop them selling into the US, did "helpfully" confirm that they are the right drugs in the right quantities for a drug that does not have a narrow margin of when the dose works (called an NTI).

I think everything they sell is enteric coated to get through the stomach.

No guesses why you're asking, but you'll be breaking the law if you buy.

Nothing to add to ycbm, other than if you suspect ulcers you probably want to start by having a good chat with your vet. Abler is safe, as far as I’m aware, but illegal.

I’m glad you replied ycbm

I seem to recall you were the most well I formed on this

I think it was more a concern that abler had consistently replicated the therapeutic index across enough batches for consumers to be confident it was always effective and always safe

In the event I picked up some peptizole today

I think it actually comes from the Sri Lankan factory which makes it for everyone else. But of course it's cheating the licenced suppliers who've paid a lot of money for licencing. I sometimes struggle to feel guilty about that, though.

Do equine pharmaceuticals come off licence like human drugs after 3 years or 5 years or whatever?

Omeprazole is surely generic by now? Or can it be a bio similar?

My pharmacology modules were a very long time ago and happily I’ve forgotten most of them

The products are made in non-GMP facilities, so there is no guarantee that nothing nefarious is included.

Also, because the products aren’t licensed in the UK, if there were any adverse reactions there is absolutely no comebac, no way of reporting; there is no monitoring and no checks and controls of the frequency of AEs.

Omeprazole is generic, the enteric coating which delays metabolism isn’t.

Omeprazole is generic but can only be sold OTC in small mg units, so it's not feasible to use for horses. The licensing for horses has only been done by two companies so far, I think, so they have a duopoly and a stranglehold on the market and can dictate the price.

I tried the Abler omeprazole and didn't really see much behavioural improvement. Horse was then scoped and treated with the proper stuff (can't remember name ) and difference in his behaviour was huge.
I wouldn't try them again after this experience.
