Nope saddles arent really selling... unless very very cheap.
8" D to D is approx a medium width.
Freeads paper? Horsequest, ebay.
Collegiate saddles arent bad if they fit your horse. However, they have a "banana" tree so dont fit that many horses well.

Thankyou

I thought that may be the case

I don't really want to sell either of her saddles cheap so I may keep hold of them and scrape a few pennies together to replace them without selling right now (if that makes sense !

Am I dreaming this or are collegiate made by wintec/bates? And if so are they on the same or different tree?

An interesting post

.

I have five saddles sat sitting doing nothing, but don't want to put on Ebay if I have to offer PayPal as an option! The new stooooopid rules about the seller not getting the money until the buyer posts positive feedback is just too much of a risk, especially with the Albion

Ho hum. Don't think hubby is going to be very happy...

Sold my Bates recently on Ebay £350 - very happy. I sent a note with it asking for immediate feedback - which I got.

The collegiates are made on the same tree as the Wintec/bates.

While wandering up the field to get my pony in I was pondering all these questions so I thought I'd make a long list to ask now

Yes Paypal does put me off but I really could do with a saddle that actually fits

Oh that is good ! I think bates/wintecs sell alot better than 'normal' saddles ? I'm slowly talking myself out of selling my beloved saddle

i PXed my Ideal when I got a new Barnsby this week (well new to me) I decided that as saddles weren't selling, and I desperately needed a new one, that I'd take what they offered. WHat is the point in having a saddle sat around that doesn't fit!?

This is true !! Worth asking saddler if he will take one in PX but I know last time we spoke he didn't have anything suitable and was going to keep his eye out for me. And I'd quite like to take advantage of the fact saddles aren't selling privately and get a bargain

Well just to offer the other view - I recently sold my 2yr old Ideal dressage saddle on Ebay for £730. I paid £850 new two years previously. I was pretty pleased even after ebay and paypal had their cut. I know someone else who recently sold an Albion K2 jump saddle which she's sure is fairly old (but in good condition) for over £500 if I remember correctly.

Think it depends on the saddle.

I sold a very old albion on ebay for £300 quid. V pleased & so was the buyer. My saddler didn't want it. Ebay is good for selling saddles, it's just a pain trying to find something to parcel them up in!

I have a bates SJ & I also have a collegiate DR. The collegiate is fine actually - not as nice quality leather as the Bates but basically the same in fit & I find it quite comfortable.

Ouch! I sold mine via the saddler and got £650! Granted it was in great condition and i had to wait several months for it to sell but if you're not in a rush i would be inclined to sell that way. You're more likely to get a decent price for your stuff imo

Agree with KatB - collegiate/bates/wintec are from the same company so built on the same banana tree which does not fit many horses.
