We nearly got rid of her a few months ago, then after a change of heart, and the pony going lame, my daughter focused on her and started taking her again to the shows. Anyway, to cut a long story short, she has come good, and as she is 19, its now or never.

She has got the confidence to have a go at the bigger stuff, now so I need to know how best we go about getting her affiliated ?

This was footage was taken yesterday of her and my daughter doing part of the jump off in a 3 ft unaffiliated class and on the last jump in the clip, even though she took off early, managed to wing it.

ok well you will need to register the horse and your daughter, go on here http://www.bsja.co.uk/forms.html you will need the membership and horse/pony registration forms, and any of the other bits you may want to look at, then fill them out etc. The 1st class is BN (apart from intro shows or small opens) which is 90cm 1st round and 1m jump off. if you get stuck just ask : ]

Thanks, will take a look

give the BSJA a ring as they have special deals for RC and PC members not always clear on the site. They re very helpful. Affiliated daughter a month ago. £99 for complete deal as a junior associate on a horse me as owner. This is a PC members price.

Hi (Ash) lol. Blimey look at them fly, they should do ok affiliated. As everyone as said you can look on the BSJA website for all the forms or just give them a call. If you can get the PC deal then go for it, as its expensive otherwise. I renewed my this year for Star and that was like £100+. Give me a PM on here or Ninjas if you need a hand.

Why don't you go along to Summerhouse or Hartpury and try a few classes before parting with £110!

I've joined, because I got fed up with local shows. However I am quite happy trekking to summerhouse, Hartpury, Blewbury etc every weekend.

The horse is on Jill Carenza's yard in Stanton ATM, and has been schooled there for the last couple of months as my daughter has been doing her work experience with her.

Jill said give it a go after seeing her jumping a 3'6" course in the school, so we are reasonably confident that she is up to jumping in the newcomers now.

My daughter will be going back to Hartpury next month to do her 2nd year, so the opportunity will arise for them to jump there if she is not on yard duty.

Wow going in at NCs is a big leap from jumping unaffliated. It is not only the height you have to think about, but at BSJA it is more technical esp as you go up the grades. My suggestion would be go in at discovery and mybe jump a few 1.05's i wouldn't want to push the pony so quickly.

I also think the suggestion of jumping n a ticket first is a good idea, you can get a feel for things without having to part with the registration fee first!

Good luck, and most of all have fun!

Ooer, fancy seeing you on here Becky

. I didn't have a tape measure on me, but she jumped a triple in practice the other week and the spread of the final fence was at least 4ft and nothing my daughter has put her at (since last summer) has over-faced her.

But its one thing jumping one fence schooling - quite another when there are 12 to get over!!

I'm still working both mine on BN and Discos until they are jumping double clears. Cannot see point in going up the grades until they are reading.

Summerhouse is running the progressive schedule on saturday - so I will be there. If I get up early will do BN & Disc. If I'm late I'll do the disc and 1.05m open.

Lol...good suggestion about going in on a ticket first and seeing how she handles it. As mentioned, it is different to local unaffiliated shows with the jumps deffo up to height and as wide as they are high  Start at BN/Discovery first and work up....

If she gets on ok then pay to register.

Arghh, not to sure about saturday, We were planning to go to the Ledbury show at Gadbury.

We are planning to bring her home to Cheltenham on friday evening, so I'll PM you if we have a change of plan.

If the hand isn't too far away they have free tickets on sunday. However if you are quick and come in the first 6 of an amateur class you could qualify for the regionals, but you need to do it by Aug 31st for this years finals. You need to be a member to qualify

Ask about RC membership as it is I think £110 for horse and rider for the first 2 years.

Think I'm going to Summerhouse on Saturday to do British Novice and maybe Discovery,

Was thinking about doing a working hunter at ledbury hunt show though hmmm decisions lol!
