Hi,

I asked for a back person based in Lincs on here the other day and had a great response, thank you. I emailed everyone who was suggested but the only one who has responded did so to say that it is too far to travel.

Going through the various options I have whittled it down to two people and I really want to make the call this afternoon, but don't know who to choose.

Nicola Baguley came very highly recommended by several people on here and is a physio. She has no website. I am wondering whether physios are less holistic than other disciplines?

Emily Graham was recommended by one person on here. I like everything I see on her website, but know very little about McTimoney. If it's everything she says it is, it looks great. This is her website http://www.emilygraham.co.uk/testimonials/

They are a similar distance away, Nicola in Retford and Emily near Grantham.

Who do I call first?

If your after a mctimoney physio I'd definitely recommend Emma hustler, she travels from Lincoln to us which is a fair few miles. If she's doing more than one horse she also offers a discount. She's very friendly and explains a lot about what she doing. She deals with my old arthritic boy and I wouldn't let anybody else deal with him now. If u type her name in on google her website will come up. Sorry I didn't see ur previous thread. I'd thoroughly recommend Emma.

I've seen her website, too, but hadn't heard anything else so I'm interested to here this, thank you.

Would you say McTimoney does what it says on the tin then? I've no experience with McTimoney.

I think my boys get a lot more out this than a normal physio particularly the old lad because a lot of what she does on him isn't too hard on him. He's very stiff but I notice a massive improvement once he's had treatment. She taught me a few stretches to do with him which means I can go slightly longer between treatments. I'd certainly give it ago, I wasn't sure when I first had her but I wouldn't change now. It's all personal preference at the end of day. The way I see it is I get improvement after the treatment, n my boy seems a lot happier in himself. Just wish I could afford some of the equipment she uses. Ps she gives them a good massage before any treatment, there almost asleep before she even starts!!! X

Hi, I had a mctimoney person out for my horse a while back. She came recommended and said there was nothing wrong with my horse. 6 months later and still on rest I knew something was still wrong so I found a horse chiropractor who came out. She was amazing, his pelvis and bak was out from an old injury. Mctimoney didn't pick up on this (?!!!) so from my experience I would always choose the chiropractor.

Well Nicola Baguley is on the ACPAT list on the BEVA website.

I would love an osteo as I've read elsewhere that they have very thorough training and can work with muscles and joints, whereas a physio will only work with muscles, but I can't find an osteo in my area.

And Emily Graham is on the MAA as shown on the BEVA website, so that kind of recommends both as qualified professionals, but a couple of the above threads are none too positive about McTimoney. Hmmm....

Well that's two recommendations. Yikes, this is a hard call. As people say, I will only find out by trying these people myself but at around 50 pounds a chuck it's a waste of money if I choose the wrong person and it doesn't help the pony.

Okay, I've made my decision and my booking... I've gone with Emma and now I just have to see what my pony and I think and how it works for us. I'm very excited about getting everything sorted and a new saddle fitted if needed. I think I might get my back done at some point, too.
