Horse came in hopping lame last Tuesday so 1 week today. Farrier was fab and was there within half an hour to remove shoe and make a small exit hole.
Have been using Animalintex, hot poulticing and keeping it covered but he's been turned out 24/7.
Started to weight bear much better after 2 days and today I trotted him up. Very nearly sound but wouldn't be 100% without on shoe on in front anyway. Now there hasn't been much gunk come out on the poultice so i'm wondering if this seems too good to be true?
Could it be that it's drained this quickly or is there a chance that it's tracking up the hoof and not done with yet?
Any one with experience of this please as i've texted the farrier to say I think shoe could go back on. Obviously he will advise me best but having researched, it seems recovery averages a couple of weeks?
