My 2yr old gelding had an abescess in his front left and the vet came out on easter day and found it, so i poulticed it for 5 days and the farrier came out and showed me how to plug it etc, so I have been changing it every couple of days since but I have just been up to see the boy today and he's lame again!
I struggle because we only have one useable stable and he won't come in on his own, so last time i put the horses in the field with a shelter and left him in there with a gate on so he couldn't get out! BUTTTT he did get out! he jumped the gate then lifted another gate off of its hinges and was galloping down the lane when I arrived at the yard in the morning!
So just wondering what is the best thing to do? I'm guessing that were its been so wet and muddy he may have got another abscess in the same place??? I will find out tomorrow when the farrier comes out! but what suggestions do you have for keeping him from this happening again if he won't stay in?
thanks
