Abscess?

So,horse comes in on three legs boxing day morning,no heat or swelling anywhere,suspected in foot.same foot as damaged ddft earlier in year so I panicked thinking same again and rang vet. Vet said probably abcess and to give bute and poultice,wouldn't be tendon as wouldn't be that lame??
So horse in on box rest and poulticed, nothing has come out yet. Should I get vet out for a dig around?anything else I could do?so fed up of this year now!

Also check for elevated radial pulse, that will be a big indication if its a problem in the hoof, if that's easy to find then prob def abscess, yes soak in Epsom salts and hot poultice, can take several days to come out, if horsey is still very lame tomorrow I think I would prob get vet out or ask farrier to come out and dig it out
