Basically my horse went hopping lame last monday got her in ice packed her leg as found, not quite swelling but a small thumb sized bit of like gel under the skin around the top of the suspensory ligament, well bandaged her over night then got her out in the morning to muck out and was 70% better, well she pretty much has stayed like this now with the bandaging etc and im turning her all out bandaged up otherwise she gets to be a pain in and hyper, being out is doing no worse she is only showing a short stride now not so much lame.

Anyway had farrier out saturday and he found under her shoe the remains of an absess still abit gunky but nothing to poltice etc........i couldn't have known it was there as was under the actual shoe.........

Basically im thinking could this gel up her leg be from the absess as sometimes i no things can go to other places like when you have one under your tooth your whole face can swell??

well done if you got this far!!!!!

seemed to do the trick he is fine now.

Our donkey had an abcess in his foot last winter. Despite regular poulticing it never came out of his hoof but actually burst out just above the hoof, so yes it does happen.

One of my donkeys had a hoof abscess that turned out to be two last winter (she comes from Shropshire!!!). Anyhow it is very common for it to track up the hoof and come out through the coronary band.
