Literally just bent down and noticed my favourite ranchu, nebula Was was missing an eye.
Just gone, empty socket. Fine yesterday.

Banged the glass so he turned round and the other one is gone too. Again just a clean empty socket.
No clue how it's happened.

Really, really, really upset how tf has this happened???

Other fish in tank all ok. No rough decor (2x plant pots and some floating elodea).

F----king distraught!!!! He's slow and keeps swimming into the glass. Idk how this has happened at all, noticed nothing wrong yesterday ???? But somehow he has no eyes today!!!!!!

That’s so weird to happen so suddenly - no wonder youre so shocked and upset.
ocular viral infection/fungus in fish normally show some atrophy/inflammation symptoms, they dont suddenly lose the eye within 24hrs, do they?!

Could another fish have been aggressive? But even then to cleanly take out the eyes Even if it was another fish.
How bizarre….poor fish. Are you on a fish expert forum?…as this isnt something my fish keeping buddies have ever said has ever happened…or could happen!

Ok..... Having asked around a few fishkeeping groups/forums current most likely scenario is one eye was done accidentally whilst going for same bit of food and the perpetrator liked it so went after the other one deliberately. ???
Going to get two more tanks - one for the victim and my other blind fish, and one for the suspected perpetrator (s).

Feel sick thinking about this. Poor, poor sweet little Neb :(

It’s really unusual though, whatever the cause. You could try a cheap wifi cctv type camera on your tank to try to get visual proof of this weird behaviour!

Feel so sorry for Neb too. Is he eating ok? Is the food strong enough to smell without sight?
Maybe if you have a known mate of his he could be paired with for some safe physical stimulation and company, he’d adjust?

I'm so sorry: no wonder you are so shocked and upset. I'm a fish ignoramus, which clearly you are not. I'm sure you will do the best things for your fish. Wishing you both well.
