YO is also my instructor and her daughter and I have had a bit *ahem* of a fall out this morning, something to do with me being a "big headed bitch who thinks she knows effing everything"! (of course, she must be right

But anyway, what is really peeving me, was that in the middle of the conversation, she burst out with "Well my mum certainly musn't think that you're a good rider, as she said that you can't jump 2ft 3 without scaring yourself!" This is really annoying me as since I have changed instructors to her mum, I haven't jumped much over 2ft 3, but my horse is incredibly dangerous to jump, yet I have jumped 3ft on him previously. I am absolutely fuming that someone could say that about me. TBH, I don't feel like jumping EVER again, it's really p*ssing me off.

I don't even care if she didn't say that. Her daughter certainly did

Gah!

Well done if you got through that!

I'm in the warwickshire/northants/rugby/daventry area. Can anyone recommend a good instructor for jumping/dressage and confidence building/helping my horses way of going?

PM me if you prefer... Thanks

If you like your instructor other than the fall out with the daughter then stick with her.

You can bet she won't have a clue that her daughter said that & I doubt she told her daughter that in the first place. By leaving you are probably giving nasty child what she wants.

Have to agree with Nic on this one! Sounds like daughter is just a spoilt little brat! If you get on well with your YO/Instructor then is it really worth the hassle trying to find someone else?

If it is then I hope you find someone good and sorry I couldn’t be of more help!

This is why I think it's best not to be taught by your YO!! Too close to home.

Brampton Stables near Northampton has some good instructors and very good facilities. I used to have dressage lessons with Jenny Ward. I didn't have jumping lessons there myself but I think they have some good people teaching there on the jumping front.

As for confidence boosting, there is someone near Kettering who is very, very good at teaching people who are having a confidence crisis.

She's an AI, and although she hasn't competed at a high level herself, she does understand what it feels like to be nervous and specialises in giving people confidence. Her name's Jo Rhodes, and I'm afraid that's all I know. You might find her on the BHS website.

The problem is, I have lost confidence since starting lessons with my YO, and I find she teaches the horse, not me if you understand?

Actually, she is the sort of person to say things like that. She probably did say it to her spoilt brat daughter. I would put money on it. The reason I believe this, is because the other day, I joked to her daughter that of course, with my new mare, I would be jumping 4/5ft and winning the next Olympics - We were talking about pony club groups.

This would not be the first time that my YO had made snide comments behind someone's back about their riding.

I can't move livery, nor have a trainer/instructor onsite, so will have to hack 15 minutes to another yard to have lessons - a nice warm up and cool down.

What you do when you hack out off their propery is of no concern to them. If you can't move ATM, then keep your distance and bide your time.

I'd rather keep our horses in a field and hire local facilities than pander to people who think they are a cut above.

It will be their loss if you move. Your livery is helping to pay their bills, its a shame they seem to have lost sight of this detail.
