I have my horses, my horses things and my equine world condensed into my stable block at home. Everything in there belongs to me or mother, it is private, and I dare say that the contents of my tackroom and stables are worth a fair bit of money, as with all stables and tackrooms.
An ex livery came up this afternoon whilst I was riding and took one of my turnout rugs, which belongs to me, and is kept in my private tackroom at home.
The livery parted on bad terms after an argument with my mum over her absolute disrespect for privacy and other people'e belongings.
She didn't call to ask if she could borrow it, she brought it up tonight covered in wet, sludgey thick mud and said "Hiya, took this earlier, my horse had ripped hers and I needed to turn her out, hope you don't mind"
I did, and although I have mastered the art of biting the old tongue at times she caught me in a rather stressed state of mind and I went absolutely mad, I must have been stood for a good 5minutes arguing (still quite shocked) about how rude and out of order she was. She genuinely seemed shocked at my reaction, almost as if it was ok for someone, who she knows we do not like, who I see about 4 times a year on the local show circuit to take something as large as a turn out rug without asking.
I'm not being petty, turnout rugs cost a good £60 and I'm an obsessive in clean things, she took that rug this morning almost gleaming, my pet hate is wet, muddy, sticky rugs in the tackroom.
I have demanded she take it and have it cleaned, and back to me by Saturday, do you think that is very unreasonable?
