sorry just to get it out poor roscoe went to the vets yesterday to be x-raayed in all the different areas. Initially really crippled i flexion on right hind stifle but then was left hind too! so off he went and found out he has bad ligament damage on right hind stifle and arthiritics changes in both... This means we can medicate and box rest for 4 months with in hand walking slowly increasing or med and turn away for 6.... he's wild anyway so turnout is really only option or he will kill us all just absolutely gutted we had really started to make progress and was going to start competing properly this summer...

I have school so miss the whole holidays of riding and just so disappointed, i know it could have been worse but guess it always feels like the end if the world! they also tried to nerve block fetlock but he lashed out(he's pretty aggresive) and now he has half a needle in there!!!! sorry for rant and congrats if you made it to the end

I had both my horses on box rest this time last year. It is awful, so I do feel for you. If he is used to being out 24/7 at this time of year then why not do as I did with mine and make him a tiny enclosure with electric fencing, inside the main paddock. It keeps them far more sane. I was not able to walk one of mine in hand either (just too wild!) and so what I did was gradually expand his pen so that he could walk around himself and get gradually increased exercise that way.

What b.awful news just at the start of the season. One of my horses had to be retired due to kissing spine and it was 6 years of work out the window so know how you feel. Don't know what else to say other than grrrr on your behalf.

just so you nkow youre not alone ,my 17 yr old daughter is in the same position, horse lame will be off all summer and misses everything. lifes just not fair sometimes .

thanks everyone youve all made me smile! yeah well it was turned away for 6 months (which we will do) or box rest for 4 and he is just wild anyway so no way can we keep him in especially on livery its just not fair to ask for!
