Acavallo gel tail wrap

If your horse actually rubs his tail in the lorry/trailer then they are absolutely useless. I had one and it had holes in it within a couple of uses. Great to put on, great in theory, hopeless in practice.

My show hunter really sits on his tail travelling and frequently ended up with bald patches where he rubbed off bandages and guards, got one of these and it has been amazing!!hasn't budged, really recommend it :D

So unfair! I loved using it because it stays put so well, so how come my horse made holes and yours doesn't - I shall stamp my footies :)

Ahh but as mine was so extreme at it he literally could get anything off and ruin his tail,(which being a show horse was quite a sin lol) I put a woof wear tail guard ontop :D works a treat :D

My shopaholic friend convinced me to get one at Badminton. She absolutely swears by them but I've not tried it yet, I'll try to remember to report back when I do!

I'm with wellybob - I do exactly the same, and its the only tail bandage I can keep on my beast!

I touched it and was instantly fascinated, must have been appealing to the inner child! I've found mixed reviews but I can't stand traditional bandages and it's between a wrap and this!

Well that explains it, yes it will stay in place like no other tail bandage, but I can't be bothered faffing about with both. Now I have an ordinary tail cover that I have stuck non-slip matt inside :)

If anyone wants two, or two people want one each Acavallo also sell sets of two of them as LEG bandages. As far as I can tell they are identical, and it's much cheaper to buy the leg ones as a pair than the tail ones.

I bought one at Olympia- it is WAY too short to be any use. The only way to get it to the end of my horses doc is to pull it stupidly tight.... Perhaps I am not using it right?!

It is sat in the cupboard unused waiting to go on eBay!

This is just because it is new - after being used a couple of times it does streach a bit . Also put it on on a diagonal rather than round straight.

I love mine - but also use something else on top - I have a tail bag that I put on top which has a padded top and then also have a quarter guard that is tied to it

Reporting back - I really liked it. My tail bandages always slip, particularly as being a native my boy's tail is rediculously thick, but this never budged. Also helped keep the hairs neat and gave a slightly pulled shape, which I really liked it for.

I would comment it's a little on the short side right now, but we'll see if this improves with stretching.

I also travelled him with a tail guard on, so can't say for rubbing issues.

I still can't seem to make it long enough, thank you for your suggestions though! Maybe my horse has a particularly big dock!

When it comes in the box, it is double wrapped, you need to peel and seperate the double layer :)

PS. It took me 2 months to work this out :o

mine goes on a 17.2hh middleweight hunter - so I think its just your technique:D

At the top of the tail start with it underneath then wrap over the top straight only once. Then start wrapping on a SHARP diagonal so that it only just covers the previous lap, then when you reach the end straighten off again - if you use it to bandage your tail everyday for a week you will find it streatches - washing it will also help it - it definately will fit its just too new at the moment

ETA you dont wrap all the way to the very bottom of the dock - you just go down to the length of a tail guard
