acavallo pads

so what are your experiences with Acavallo pads, personally I would not buy on again (and they are very expensive!!) My current horse is very difficult to fit so the saddler suggested a front rising acavallo pad. It also happened to be non slip and shock absorbing. We were advised to wear in under the saddle pad but i found that it could slip (despite it being non slip) and due to the extra lift at the front it unbalanced my saddle. We then tried it on top of the saddle pad however this pressed the pad down on to his back leaving no room under the gullet of the saddle ect. So ditched the acavallo and now use a half pad which works well! Anoth thing was due to all the small holes when worn directly on his back it cause lots if little bumps.

I had one of those front risers and found it to be a fantastic bit of kit, so much so I bought another. It filled the hollow at the withers on my big TB enough to just make his saddle sit better, never moved or rubbed or anything negative. A half pad would have been too much in this instance. I would suggest that instead that it wasn't the right product for what you needed rather than it being a poor product.

I now use the Acavallo gel half pad and really rate them too.

I like the acavello gels, but only the non sheepskin ones.
You need to keep them clean to retain stickiness

I like them, have the normal one for shock absorption and a bit of non-slip under the saddle (horses movement was pushing it around and horse is fussy and likes the softness of the gel!) I use it over the saddle pad and never had an issue with it pushing the pad down, as it's not heavy and just sat on top, works well for me, but perhaps wasn't right for your situation.

I am really hoping that the Truth Tack Review on YouTube reviews them as I'm cynical about them, most gels aren't great for horse's backs but these are certainly popular. For my remedial fits I only supply, and prefer to work with, Mattes four pocket shim pads.

I love mine the only thing that has persuaded a saddle not to slip forewords on my mare. i use it on its own and have had no reaction to it but does need to be kept clean as mentioned
