Has anyone used one before, what did you think of them?

Had back lady out for my boy twice now (initially because he was quite sore across his whole back, due to a slip), much much better but now there's a little localised soreness just where the back of the saddle sits. Popped it on him and its just sitting a little off him (so would be banging a bit and unfcomfortable), so was advised to find some cushioning of some description until my saddler can come out (a months wait list!).

It's really a toss up between this and a prolite... Thanks :)

Do you mean the gel one? If so, my horse prefers it to prolite and the le meiux versions.

But, my saddler has commented that this riser is not adjustable, so it really depends on just how much you need to raise the cantle.

As advertised, it does stay in place. Confess, I was dubious at first.

Thanks for the replies :)

Yes, it's the gel one I'm looking at. My friend had one (has moved now though! :( ) and it looked really nice but I never tried it. They do look more cushioning than the prolites, so perhaps better for what I need it for, but they are very expensive :eep:

Do they squish down much? They look quite thick...

I bought my front one from CS on ebay and it was the Shires one :) They sell a lot of the Shires range so I'm sure it will be the same with the rear one :)

Great, thank you :) I've just ordered a shires off ebay for £25 including pp, about half what I'd have had to pay for the acavallo!

Thanks for your help, hopefully it will do the job and we can get back on track soon :)

I have a shires one, used it when mine lost muscle after box rest & since then has been used regularly when either my daughter rides her, other small children, plus I've used it on other ponies occasionally too. Had it years now, think it was £10 or so & its still fine.

I have the Acavallo front riser for my veteran who has muscle wastage behind the withers & I find it great! Was completely worth the money :)

It is very squishy & squishes without pinching in all the right places.
