Is it just me? I am having terrible problems getting access to the forum over the last few days. I can read the posts if I haven't logged on, but as soon as I log on nothing wants to load or takes a huge amount of time to appear. it is so frustrating. Also why is 'esential maintaince' carried out in the evening when I want to get on, and 'can't come back in an hour'?

Ok rant over, lets see if it works this morning!

Yes...and its getting on my blinkin nerves

I sometimes have trouble getting it to work as well.Sometimes it loads straight in and others it just hangs and hangs for ages and then takes forever once you do get the main page loaded before anything else loads. I have emptied my cache browser and cookies numerous times as that is supposedly one of the reasons for it running slow and it makes zero difference

I've been having this problem for months now. Sometimes it's so slow to load, I just come out and don't bother with it. I just assume it's a high useage problem. Lots of people logged on makes the system slow.

Yep I have a problem here in France also. If too busy I just give up. Life is too short and I have 9 boxes to muck!!

It's been dire for a couple of months now - not TOO bad at present but this mroning it was hopeless. And there's about 200 people online right now - which isn't huge. There are several potential problems with forums. First, obviously, is the processing power of the server/s in relation to the number of users and what they are doing (search, for example, is very resource heavy!) Then there's the fine tuning of MySQL (or other database), Apache, etc. But in HHO's case, there is also the problem of the related sites - Google ad-server, which puts the ads onto the right-top corner of the page, adserver - which puts the display ad at the top of the page, the newsfeed, etc.etc. I THINK adserver is one of the the main problems - it takes a long time sometimes to serve up the ad - and in the mean time, not only does each individual user suffer a delay in the page loading, but it also slows down the rate at which the sqld can deal with requests, and the time each httpd process is held open.

That was the main reason my own forum went subscription - if you are reliant on the speed of 3rd party sites which may either be running slow themselves OR may be using a network that is under pressure, everything siezes up!

Mines been reasonable until the last two days, when I could barely get on. Seems OK today.(so far!!)
