I have owned my 4 year old tb x since February. I treat him no differently to the other horses I own however since Feb he has

1. Sliced leg open twice - back leg on inner thigh bit so muscle was hanging out, lovely
2. Chipped bone in back leg
3. Got bone infection in chip
4. Had an allergic reaction to Baytril
5. Had Surgery at RVC for chip and infection
6. Had scar tissue issue (basically it wont go, its from the infection)
7. Cut top of head
8. First set of shoes, managed to clip shoe when spooking despite OR boots, then tred on shoe, resulting in clips going in foot and imbedding themselves and hopping lame pony
9. Cut eye

All of this has cost in excess of £10k!

Any suggestions to save my bank balance?

He has cost me loads in vet bills. I think some horses are just numpties. Maybe your pone will grow out of it..........although Monty is 28 and still trying to fund my vet's new mercedes!

No suggestions but loads of sympathy!

Thank you! He is doing my head in...

Currently in the 'special pen' with post and rail, electric, flat grazing....turn out boots and over reach boots, and a fly/lightweight rug.....URGH!

I think I should have him stuffed and put on rockers!

You have my sympathy !
I have 2 year old, ive owned since april, within 72hours of owning her, she decided to jump a 5ft fence and go lame on 3 legs bar the front offside. Oooh and currently under treatment of the vet due to falling into a dyke while trying to be a piggy and eat the reeds ( obviously the lush grass just isnt enough ) and now has a awful smelling back leg with a gross infection. Ive never seen a vet so often, my vet even quoted "fingers crossed i wont have to see you for a while" but oh no, back out tomorrow to possibly up her meds ..

He is insured, but there is an excess and a limit - the back leg drama cost £6k over my £5k limit
