Acheivements? (sp?)

NO!
had a [****] year. had to retire my horse that was jumping foxhunters at the age of 10 because he has navicular, had to consider putting him down which was the worst week of my life hoping he would be comfortable on pain killers which luckily he is!
uncle got cancer, grandad had stroke, my lorry got stolen in broad daylight and i wrote of my car.
due to above reasons did not qualify for scope festival for the first time ever.

i have begun to answer to the name lucky now!!

OMG! I thought I was having a cr*p time!
Glad to hear you did'nt have to have your horse PTS.
Your luck has got to change now

Semi retired my 12 year old due to arthritis in his coffin joint so bought the palomino in my sig. He reared up and fell back on me on a hack the week before last. My leg is badly bruised with some soft tissue damage and I'm supposed to rest
frown.gif

He is very green and very unbalanced and is now at a schooling yard building up a bit and having a thorough checkover

Absolutely appalling year here too, I won't go into it
frown.gif

Have I achieved what I wanted to - God no, I should be preparing for P to go Fox now!!! As it is, she hasn't even jumped round a BN
frown.gif
Having to face the fact that I may have bought a dud, but she has the winter to prove me wrong
smirk.gif
AM actively looking for something to run alongside her just in case the worst case scenario comes true - I do hope I can make her have a heart for proper competing.

Indeed! In all honesty isn't all her fault, I fractured my coccyx, then my house was badly flooded and deemed strucurally unsound, to name 2 of the things that have been against us
frown.gif
My trainer is feeling v frustrated for me and agrees that she may just not be up for the big stuff, but as I said, she has time to prove me wrong - she has amazing scope and is a lovely horse to have around!

Started off the year terribly by not being able to do anything except trot in the roundpen because I had confidence issues. After switching barns and trainers and am now happily learning to jump on a slightly challenging horse, so that is a big accomplishment for me.

crap year - thought it would be good - horse came back into work sound after his op, but come march he went severely lame again and i thought i'd lose him. thankfully he's ok now, but still 1/10 lame so wont be ridden again. the end of an era - i'm gutted.

I've had a good year with my pony!
smile.gif
We got round 2 big TC courses, he's been a STAR showjumping and has given me two fab rounds BE.

Next year I want to do newcomers and PN confidently. Thats my aim!

I'm a positive person so on the whole it was a great year; for the business, which has really built up incredibly over the past year. I have had a wonderful year in sales with my seller on horses and the boarding stables have really taken off now and I am finally making a decent living because of the amount of them.

I have also eventually managed to get the bloodlines of the horses I want; these will be bringing me a good profit back in 3 years time once they are backed and riding out.

I have enough horses for seller ons next year and thankfully have been highly successful in selling the ones I needed to this year. Just sold one today for a whopping profit so am pleased

.

On a personal level - had absolutely devastating news a few months ago, which sadly became absolutely horrendous about a month ago....but hey life goes on doesn't it. I always prefer to be happy, so happy I will be and anyway it couldn't get any worse so no point in moping over it.

I hope 2008 sees this business grow as much as it did last year. It will bring a lot of security and faith that we have done the right thing by immigrating. I hope to do a lot more with my keeper horses and I am dying to see what colour our Legacy eventually ends up as - bless her, I know people on here told me that she couldn't possibly turn coloured AFTER she was born, however she has started to have white patches over her so not sure what is going on there LOL!!

I just hope that 2008 is happy, healthy and enjoyable.

Take one Donkey and a middle aged numptey and together we have:

Ridden at the Royal
Qualified for the Royal London
Won best turned out CB sash
Fox hunted and blood hounded

So yes we have had a great year, just the numptey on top needs to improve and the Donkey needs to find more oomphff to get placed higher

I'm with Tia, try my best to be happy, Should have been a good year, got my pony looking slimeline and super fit. Went lame in May, still lame, and after third opinion diagnose with torn superficial tendon?, navicular, you name it he has it.

On the bright side, I have taken to riding my daughters new forest pony, Turbo, who I thought I would never have the nerve to ride, and I love him, even started to jump him!
cool.gif

I got myself a lovely job working at a local boarding kennels and cattery, and a friend has offered to pay me over the winter for riding her chubby cob!
smile.gif

Good year for me too... passed my Uni course with distinction, got best student for the year too
blush.gif

Started year having one horse and doing hacking only, then a chance meeting made me buy another horse that had done lots of things, and thanks to the help of SSM have now been hunting (never thought I would EVER do that!!) completed my first dressage test, and taken the naughty one SJ schooling at the local University.
The next aim is to get the naughty one to a local show (07.10.07) even if for only tack and turn out, but aim is a dressage test too!

BUT - without the help and support of the forum members I would not have done half of it - so thanks

Good
- found a place for my grey horse where he appears to be happy and will be kept busy until it's time for him to retire
- My wonderful little 6 year old, Moon, has been a total star and proved she's not only talented but has the right attitude to be an eventer too, having given me some lovely rides around some BE novices
-Had some real fun this summer riding tonnes of different horses and earning money in the process

Bad
-Lost our broodmare and foal in the same week that someone drove into me and wrote my car off and one of ours was diagnosed with kissing spine
- One of my clients is refusing to pay me a lot of money so I'm totally skint

Next year I hope it will be all good!!

Well there are still 3 months to go, so I could achieve what I wanted what is to have the horse doing BSJA. On a plus side though she has been pretty good to XC which at beginning of year I would have said I am never taking her XC. She also seems to have stopped her vertical rearing issues and now does minor ones if at all.
She loads 100 times better and is superb on sponsored rides and doesn't get strong or stressed.

We've had quite a good year really, registered daughter & horse with BSJA. My daughter has got her 4 double clears in BN & has got a bit of money on his card so we are pleased about that & is now having a go at Discovery.....still has to clock up her first DC in Discovery but it's only been a couple of silly things that have stopped her. We are sure it will come eventually. Done a bit of unaffiliated Dressage, mainly to improve his flatwork for jumping & he's been getting as high as 68% in prelims so again very happy. Most of all we are really enjoying our horse & he enjoys himself. Other things in life can be crap & have been crap but our lad gives us constant enjoyment.

NO! a long way off achieving our goals, what we have done I've been very pleased with, he's won showjumping and showing and been placed every time out, but we haven't been out much as I've been without transport since June, and still am! Hopefully that will be remedied soon, but its certainly set us back as I've lost every bit of confidence I'd built up again by doing nothing for months, and when we hyave been out on all but one occasion jumps have been about 2ft rather than the 2ft9 they were supposed to be! Ah well, hopefully we'll make some progress over autumn/winter

I didn't really set any goals as I have been away at uni and my horses have been having a nice quiet life just hacking at weekends up until may.

I graduated from uni with a 2:1 in physiotherapy so of course I'm very happy with that. My horse is now fit and in full work and this winter we will finally be fit enough to go hunting which is something I've always wanted to do. Doing my FIRST ever ode/xc competition this weekend if it all goes to plan! Found an instructor I really get on with and have made huge progress with my horses flat work although she seems very reluctant to show anyone this at dressage competitions! lol

Yes - my goal for this year was to start Tilly and have her out hacking quietly by the end of the year. She has surpassed my expectations already

Its been a strange year!

We emigrated in April and everything is still quite chaotic.

Brought Jack with me and hes at a lovely yard but due to various (mostly move related issues), im not riding aaanywhere near as much as i should be. (Currently grounded at home too since OH is having to use my car to get to work, bleh! :P) I hate not being able to ride much since hes undoubtedly the best horse ive had and i feel like ive wasted a whole year of opportunity with him atm!

Lost my beautiful old dog not long after moving here and im still absolutly gutted about that over two months on.

STILL havent moved out of OH's parents house which is starting to annoy
wink.gif

Miss my mum something chronic !

BUUUUUUUUUUT jack is well, the move IS a good thing despite all the very frustrating obstacles and while things feel very rollercoaster ish, its improving and I know some time in the future i'll look back and say it was 110% the right thing to do.

We've still got three and a half months to go yet, you know!
So far though I've had a mixed year (not half as bad as some of the others have had on here!). I was aiming to do a 2'3" ODE with my mare in August but in February she went very, very lame and in May was MRI'ed and diagnosed with a torn deep flexor tendon (probably an old injury) and cartilage erosion - she's having until April '08 off (at least) and then will never jump again, and only if she recovers really, really well will she be allowed to school. So I'm going to have to find her a new home next year (although I'll never sell her). I got the ride on Cookie in May/June, which worked well until his owner decided I wasn't allowed to school him on the flat but didn't bother telling me until this weekend gone, and got all shirty with me. So now our share has been downgraded to me just being "jump rider" as that's all I'm allowed. So that's a good and a bad one. This week I got the ride back on Cracks, which is all good as she's coming back from her injury (April-ish she went lame) and I've really missed riding her, and apart from jumping I can do what I like with her once she's fit again as her owner has a small child and not a lot of time - so that's definately a good one. I've worked a fair bit too, earnt some money and ridden a few different horses which was good (until I had to spend all my money on an MRI scan!). Oh and I almost got a first in my second year at uni.
During the rest of the year then I want to save as much money as possible for buying a new horse next year, jump Cookie over 3' and do a clear round at local unaff 2'9", help get Cracks fit again, get a ton (pretty literally) of weight off Maiden so she's thinner going into spring next year, and keep Maiden as sound as she looked when walking up her field this morning
smile.gif

Next year I want to get the all clear to ride Maiden again (that will make my year) then find a happy hacking loan home for her where she can give someone loads of confidence, find someone willing to lend me a horse to take to riding club camp in April, finish my dissertation on time, get a first class degree, find a job, earn some money, and buy a new horse and get out competing it in dressage, SJ and eventing (and maybe try some hunting in the 2008/2009 season).
Actually I suppose my year hasn't been that bad looking back, I'm an awful pessimist but even to me that looks fairly good!
Roll on 2008 and much better luck for all (especially as 8 is my lucky number!)

Not a bad year at all ...

My horse that back in January was looking like he would be PTS within weeks is now sound and happy, back in work and won some dressage and showjumping rosettes

my 3yo has been a complete angel and is now broken in with not a single problem

so thankfully better than last year!

Good and bad year...

Owen is at last, fit and in work
smile.gif
and absolutely awesome athletically. He's done some fantastic dressage and showjumping at his comps but his XC has been a let down as he will not go down steps or do spooky water jumps- only in his own time. So he's not even completed one XC course which was so disappointing. And one of the reasons why he's up for sale as a dressage horse/SJer as am going to uni in Oct and cant afford to keep two. Still umming and ahhing about it and wondering wether I should give him the benefit of the doubt and see wether Richard Maxwell could sort his XC out. He is such an incredible horse, * when he wants to be* so am still wondering wether I should keep him on.

My lovely 4 year old although beautifull has just been off work for ages now for something that just does not seem to be coming right. I despair.

Have recently been on the verge of wanting to give up horses completly. but know deep down that could never do that
frown.gif
what would I do without horses? so just battle on with the lame ponies and one day they'll come right.

Got into a good course at Southampton Uni which was amazing
smile.gif
considering my rather wayward qualifications!

I've gone from very nervous, local show rider to this.....
at Great Yorkshire Showground:

and THIS...at the BSHA National Championships (last year I couldn't have dreamed of being in the ring with 29 others!)
