my new horse worked fairly consistently with his old owners in a nice outline. im finding it a little more difficult to get the right button, but if i go sitting trot, *ping* it happens... why would that be?
possibly because that's how the horse was trained. i would imagine that you don't feel the same to his previous rider so he's still feeling you out, the same as a rider has to feel a new horse out too, it works both ways. i would suggest just spending time working him in the school and asking gently for an outline, maybe do lots of sitting trot and first and try and pin-point exactly what you're doing that makes him go into an outline, if that makes any sense.
i hope i helped, lol and good luck![]()

Because you sit better in sitting trot.
You obviously can do it, it will just take more practice. Get yourself a good instructor.
