hi, there are a few horses in our area that have been put down due to acron poisoning, does anybody know what the symptoms are???
any information grateful!!!
feed cider vinegar can neutralise the effects of acorns and dont let the horse eat them. my old mare loves them completely addicted have to fence them off this time of year. someone told me after a couple of frosts (a fine chance of that one eh) it kills off the tannines in them (whatever or how it is spelt)
Does anyone know if Sammyj's post is definitely true as have a new livery who has decided he likes acorns and has taught all the other horses who have always ignored them to eat them, have had to fence field off. The cider vinegar is a great tip does this definitely work and after the last couple of nights of freezing temperatures does that mean acorns are now safe????.
i would keep them fenced off just in case, my local feed merchant told me about the cider vinegar. but dont take it for gosspel as i dont want to be responsible for anything happening to any of your horses. check it out further with other people, be interested to hear what they say as well feel free to pm me.
