Hi all, right,
my little devil pony is awful to clip, its not so much the noise but the sensation of his hair being back combed if you know what i mean. he reacts the same way if you run a comb up his neck.....i think somone caught him with them in the past.
anyway, id like to try ACP.
where can i get some (bar the vet)
doest anyone have any they dont need?
does it work?
thanks xxx

You should only be able to get ACP from vet or sedalin paste which is often better. It does help with nervous or first time horses but it doesn't make much of a difference if they are really difficult.

I haven't had any for a while I think the tablets are about a quid each and the paste (beter option probably) is 10-15 quid. The paste should last about 3 clippings.

If he's really difficult I would get the vet out to sedate. Mine used to be terrible to clip, tried once without sedation and he nearly killed three of us! I had the vet out a couple of times for IV sedation, then clipped with Sedalin, eventually moved onto just ACP tablets and now he doesn't need anything at all.

But if it's something that's likely to be dangerous I would have the vet out personally, it's just not worth the risk otherwise.

And you should only get ACP/sedatives from your vet on your vets advise.
