my horse 12year cob gelding been given him got him fit and he hunts well and is good as gold but when we get back to trailer he hates leaving others he got away from me galloped down road to the others, got him on trailer then as we came away just cheked him and he was over the front breast bar (he's done this before) a foot from ground new ifor so let the bar down from outside he is calm and dont think he would hurt himself!! but it is a worry my friends groom gave him 5 acp and he calmed down and travelled home safely my question is do I give him some sort of calmer when we finish as often we go in chairmans lorry and have coffee I have 2 oher horses and they are as good as gold i have never come across this behaviour before, let me know your advice and if this has happened to you.

Tie a rope over his wither from one side of the breast bar to the other - I have to travel my horse this way all the time, or he jumps onto the top of the tack locker. Do make sure that the bar is strong enough to hold him, and the rope too! If he's anything like mine he will try to go up, hit the rope, stop and shut up completely. I have him fastened with bull-strength karabiners now, but you might start with a quick release knot (or keep a sharp knife handy as I did) to start with.

thanks so much yeterday I had my ifor people put 2 rings lower than the breast bar so I can tie him lower so he can't jump up and vet said give him some sedalin paste wen he's finished, so we are going to do this but I will look into what you have done which is a very good idea also i'm putting a mirror in so he thinks he has company, kind regards and happy hunting.
