I am looking for a good equine physiotherapist who covers Wiltshire. My research has produced 5 names: Carolyn Hill, Sonya Nightingale, Amanda Sutton, Lily Jackson, Amy Hunton. Does anyone have any experience of the above please? Any comments or advice will be much appreciated :-)

If it's the Amanda Sutton I'm thinking of then she was (is?) Team TB's physio and William F-P's. She's written a couple of good books too ( The injured Horse, The Injury Free Horse)

Oh then I probably won't be able to afford her! Just so confused about where to turn, my mare has gone from loving jumping, to refusing to go anywhere near one. We also noticed that she is slightly lame on the right rein, but totally normal looking on the left. My vet has recommended a week off riding, then look again before starting nerve blocks etc. I've never used a physio before, but thought one might be able to identify the problem & save doing nerve blocks?

If the horse is lame and under vets care a physio will not come and treat without being referred, or they should not, it can cause issues for you with insurance if it is not done through your vet, so ask the vet for a recommendation and also whether they will approve treatment.

Just to add, if slightly lame on turns the first place to look would be the feet so your farrier may be the best person to call in this instance.

Thank you very much Be Positive. My vet did say a lot of lameness is in the feet.I will get my vet to refer if necessary, she couldn't recommend anyone though, hence my asking on here. I'm just trying to get prepared for the "next stage"

Lily is incredibly good, as are all the people who work with Amanda Sutton - they all charge much of a muchness as well, so dont worry too much about cost. (plus of course if its part of the treatment a vet is seeing him for, it will be covered anyway!)

I wont repeat what the others have said about the vets needing to see him before he can be seen by anyone - but they are right :)

Good luck.
