Hi,

Anyone have any experiences of using this? Just seen that robinsons are now selling it.

Have a lad with a sensitive tummy which shows itself as very low grade gassy colic, usually improves after a hard lunge session once he's let off some gas.

Presume it is caused by the rubbishy over grazed pasture we are on, which has loads of buutercups/ clover/ weeds and not much actual grass! Although he seems to be worse when the spring grass erupts too... Also worse in the weeks following worming.

Had the vet's take a look and the conclusion was that he's probably munching on things that don't agree with him and to keep an eye on it... this was supported by his insistence on eating oak leaves which resulted in a very bad time last year!

He's also a laminitis risk and I have heard that charcoal can be used with Lami's as a preventative.

Any thoughts welcome! :)

P.s. Am moving him to much better pastures soon....

I use stablelabel charcoal for a horse that suffers digestive problems without it. The problems seems to make him extremely spooky and bad tempered. The charcoal has been amazing for him. Most of the spookiness is gone and he is now a sweet lad.
Before the charcoal he was blown up and gassy but he never passed the gas and he hated his sides being touched. You couldn't groom his sides.

I tried it on a couple of "normal" horses and it made no difference so I think it works well for those horses that actually need it. I think it is just a case of trying. In your situation I would think it well worth a try.
