Activo med combi rug

Yep :)
My boss uses the exact same one his on his dressage horses before they are saddled up.

One is competing Prix St George/Inter 1, one is Medium moving up to Advanced (he is the Australian Champion Medium horse) and the other is competing Novice.

From what I have seen, the horses really seem to enjoy the rug. Once it's removed the horses muscles are quite warm. It's quite heavy, but very easy to use and very durable (one horse likes to chew it-and it gets sprayed with stop crib). It also feels nice if you want to chuck it on your own back... not that I have done that or anything?? lol ;)

He has also used the boots on one of his eventers who had a problem with his hock after a fall. It gave the horse some relief and he certainly moved a bit freer after the treatment.

I am not sure what else to add?? But if you have any other questions, ask away :)

Thank you for your reply.

We had a lady down from fmb to demo the kit and my mare had a treatment from it. She is normally quite busy in her stable but she just loved it.

My boss/yo and I are quite keen on rehabs, treatments etc and have been after a laser cluster etc for some time and we are also very interested in the boots too but as it is quite expensive we have gone for the rug and cold laser first and then hopefully will add the boots later on.

Our horses complete at national bhdta and others open team chase and hunt so anything that can help keep them in top form is also very helpful.

No questions really just want others experience of the kit :)

You're welcome :)

That's good, I don't know how much more I can remember about it without going and grabbing it and the book from the bag. haha

My boss has nothing but good things to say about it too. He even carted it over with him from WA to Vic for the Aussie dressage champs (3425km or 2128 miles). He also used it at the stop overs while the horses were resting and having dinner. He thinks it helped the boys recover from the trip faster then they would have otherwise. :) He prefers to use Program 2 the most...

If you are interested in rehab and treatments and all that have a look at photonic red light therapy. I have used it with success on my 9yr old OTTB who has a 3 yr old suspensory injury. He is 100% sound now and is in full work doing dressage (only prelim, but we are aiming for novice at the end of the year). He has also jumped without any trouble. I have done my experiments with the help of my vet and boss, as well as a qualified red light practitioner. I am also studying Bowen Therapy (or the Bowen Technique-I think it is called over there) and have used a number of different combinations or the Activo Med rug, red light as well as my own studies to aid in the recovery of horses I have been looking after, whether it is after competition, travel or injury. (I am not trying to sell anything, I just am using my own experiments/case studies. I hope some of it can be of use to you :) )

I've had mine for about 5 years so it's an older model but love it. We traded our Equissage in against it and find horses much prefer it to the Equissage. I think the horses tend to be looser over their backs after using it and it almost sends one particularly stressy one to sleep when it's on the magnetic cycle. I think it was really useful at 3 day events being effective before the dressage and then helped to prevent any stiffness, heat etc after xc when we used the rug and boots. I've also used the boots with leg injuries and, while it's impossible to know how much they've helped, my feeling is they probably have.

That's great to have good experiences.

It's funny neanea87. My to is a Bowen therapist and reiki practitioners too. :) so we thought it would be a useful bit of kit.

The laser cluster we have combines IR light and red diodes as well as the PEMF coils. We are hoping to use both for therapy as well as a preventative for leg strains in the horses mid season and as therapy at the end if that makes sense.

Here is hoping for happy healthy horses in even better peak fitness

:)
