Coming home from my daughters swimming class, I can see her pony in the field hopping round with his back leg off the floor. Holding it up and looking at it with a confused and frightened look on his face, all I could think was that he'd broken it! My daughter (6) is asking what he's doing and I'm trying to think of a way to distract her while I assess the damage and thoughts of how to break the news that her pony will have to be put to sleep running through my head.

However, on closer inspection (me running like a nutter from the car to the field), the silly old sod had his back leg caught through his belly strap!! God knows how he'd managed it and the strap hadn't given way but I could've cried with relief!! So no injuries thank goodness and surcingles now done up even tighter!

hehe, I know that feeling all so well.

my yearling (at the time) done the same thing, put his leg through the belly strap whilst having a snooze. He managed to stand up like it and then stood patiently waiting in the field to be saved. Luckily he's not one to panic!

My numpty routinely puts one foreleg or t'other OVER his leadrope when tied up, no matter how short I tie him. He doesn't panic . . . just stands there waving said foreleg and looking sheepish. Muppet.
