Acupuncture for horses pretty much sums it up, what are your expereinces of having this done and was it beneficial??

I've had experience with accupuncture with a few horses i've worked with, mainly for pain related issues. It is very similar to when humans have it, it worked with some and with others it had no effect at all. It generally made them go very drowsy whilst it was being done, some horses did seem to find it painful/aggrivating initially. Most horses seemed to be move more easily, have less pain within a couple of treatments.

My horse is having his 4th session next week. It's worked amazingly for him! He was quite sore behind but now, he's a changed man! Also a lot more relaxed and can stretch in his work much more genuinely than he used to. I would thoroughly recommend it :)

Another thumbs up from me, i found it really helped to "unlock" tension and the horses loved it.

Some SJs i worked with had it done and they were completely different at the next show, really jumping and much more chilled!

I had an old lad (36) done and he used to gallop round the field like a 4yr old a few days after!! :D

My loan horse had his first session last week for anhidrosis (non-sweating). He was also quite 'locked' down his left side.

The first needle seemed to completely release his left side and he went quite drowsy from then on. In terms of the sweating, there have been a couple of small changes so far and he has two more acupuncture sessions to go. The small changes have been foaming up on his neck (i.e. sweating more freely there - he always sweated a little on the neck and shoulders) and sweating around the stifles (he used to have no sweat behind the withers at all apart from under the girth). He's also been less over-heated and his breathing is better post-riding, and his coat is generally looking healthier.

I have to admit that I was a sceptic but I'd certainly use it again - I hope that the improvement continues with the next couple of treatments as it's only going to get hotter here!
