Acupuncture for riders

Anyone had acupuncture for old riding injuries? I was speaking to a vet that practices acupuncture on horses and I like the thinking behind it, and the fact that they have had a lot of success with chronic lameness in horses, so wondering if it would work for back and neck pain in riders?

Any recommendations of acupuncturists in the midlands, especially Warwickshire?
 
IMO accupuncture is the best way forward for humans and horses. I had a really nasty elbow break and i think without accupunture i would have no where near as much movement as i do have. Have also used it on my bad back (old riding injuries) where other therapies have failed. Its excellent!

I use it on my horses here, great results. Really would recommend it. :D
 
I have had acupuncture twice on my back muscles, although not specifically for riding injuries but old ones probably exacerbated the problems I was having at the time. It was extremely effective in both instances.
Having just had some treatment with a very good physio, I now can understand how all the nerves are connected throughout the body. She could manipulate my ankle and give me 'pins and needles' in my thumb!
This explained both acupuncture and reflexology to me. My vet (who does acupuncture) did give me a good scientific explanation while we were waiting for the needles to work on my horse earlier this year. I think a lot of problems arise because many practitioners don't have this scientific background and so can't explain properly, which leaves them open to ridicule/criticism.

Sorry forgot to mention that I am a fully qualified traditional acupuncturist BA (hons) and I can explain how it works etc. Traditional acupuncture has been practiced in the East for over 3000 years........speaks for it's self I think.
