acute renal infection in young lab ?

Meh, poor Stanley, he looks like a lovely boy.

Glad he is on the mend and not sure how he will come through it apart from what the vet has told you.
OH's brother's dog, last week diagnosed with heart disease, now has kidney problems too, but he is an old boy and he has had a **** diet, supplemented with all sorts of **** from well-meaning but dozy neighbours. He is on a very strict, simple diet and medication so not sure what else they can do?

I might be barking up the wrong tree (pardon the pun) but there is currently research going on into juvenile renal dysplasia in GSDs and whether it might be hereditary, dogs who are possible carriers are being identified - I don't know if this occurs/is a problem in labs?
