I currently have a pair of 2 year old fillies who are living very happily together in a field at home. I have just seen a yearling that i really fancy (im building up a small string of brood mares) but am i asking for trouble putting a yearling in with a pair bonded pair of 2 year olds … i could of course buy another yearling but i have a husband to deal with?

Well. They’re all girls. So. You’ll either do it easily or the dominant filly will object heartily and it’ll be a PITA!

If you can put the new filly in an adjacent field until they get used to each other and watch the dynamic.

When you turn them out together make sure you can stay just in case.

I certainly wouldn’t just turn it out in with the two straight away.
